In memory of those who lost their lives....

Week4

Effects, Glorious Effects!

This week we spent doing all kinds of special effects in PSP8. More fun!!!

We first worked on a photograph and made our changes through the use of Effects Dialogs and Layer Palette adjustments. I used one of my orchid photos for this exercise:

Orchid with Glass Mosaic Effect

Next we reviewed resizing of images and then worked with the Canvas Size dialog. We did several placements of our photo image, shown below. The first shows the photo centered on the canvas; the second shows it on the right; and, the third shows it on the bottom.

Now it was time to learn about the Magnifying Lens. We first applied the magnifying lens to an area of a photo. Then we used some text with the magnifying lens and placed it on the photo image. I used a photo taken one winter day of the deer in my woods. Both magnifying lens examples use the same photo, as shown below:

The final part of the lesson was spent learning about the Balls & Bubbles effect in PSP8. First we created an image showing some of the spheres that we created. I then created a seamless tile (snag if you like) from the image as well as a square showing the tile applied to it.

Last but not least, we created a sphereizd bubble effect using an image, and then we applied the bubble to a graphic. I thought it was about time I used some images of Choctaw! I'm quite sure that as he chewed on his stick at about six months old, that he was remembering how cute he looked the day he came home with me. :)

Well, once again, another fun, fun lesson!
