Layers, Masks and Selections!

This week we worked with Layers, Masks and Selections! What fun!!!

First up, exploring the new Layer Palette, starting with the initial image with the shapes grouped:

In the next image an Inverted Adjustment Layer was added to the red layer:

Next, an example of the Inverted Adjustment Layer applied to the blue shape:

The final example shows the layers blended:

Now it's time to move on to Masks and Selections - a great way to combine and display photos! The first image is according to the lesson:

Masked Sunset

For the next masked image I used two photos I took on Lake Erie. The one with the jet skier needed some adjustments. I used the One Step Auto Fix first. Then I selected the jet skier, my goddaughter's husband, Scott, and placed him on the other image.

For the last of these images I added Scott and Jody's baby to a flower and used the rice paper pattern on the bottom layer. I really like how this one turned out!

Trevor on Flower

The final part of the lesson covered working with masks saved to the Alpha Channel. The first image used the flower mask without deforming. This put the flower over Trevor's eye. In the final image I deformed the flower image and repositioned it so it now appears that the flower is sitting on the top of his head:

That's it for this week. I really enjoyed this lesson so kept right on playing, but haven't bored you with all of the images! :)
