This week started with learning about custom brushes, saving brushes, the brush ribbon and creating our first brushes. |

The flower brush is made according to the lesson. The hardest part was getting that stem to be fairly straight. I finally had to do it in small steps. I also found it less effective for me to try and calculate the spacing on the petals than just eyeballing it after the first four or five. |

The butterfly was a bit easier. I don't know if it's 'cheating' or not, but after I got the first two wings on the right made I then did an Edit/Copy/Paste as New Layer. Once I had them positioned where I thought I wanted them, I merged visible those two layers. Then I did the spots layer but the 'texture' doesn't really show here. I drew the anntennae with the brush, though would have preferred using the pen tool. |
