In memory of those who lost their lives....
Digital Art

Beginning our drawing: Tones, Shading, Shadow, Highlight, Reflection and Texture

I started by doing a pencil sketch of the shapes in the lesson and then painted them to work on the shading in color.

Shaded Shapes

Next I worked on my painting from last week. I added some leaves, petals on the table, lighter highlights on the vase and some very pale yellow to the flowers. I also tried to soften up the edges on the flowers.

Vase with Yellow Flowers

Before working on drawing and painting fruit I decided to practice drawing a bowl - for the fruit. I've only completed the pencil sketch so far. There's a pottery place near here where they make this type of pottery.

Sketch of Bowl

Now that I've done this bowl from memory I remembered that I bought one of their seconds in June. As I was looking at it I was puzzled by the name on the bowl as the only Schofield Barracks I remember are in Hawaii, not Michigan. Then the light went off and I realized that was why the bowl was a second! I bought it. I just unwrapped it and took this photo. Maybe I'll sketch and paint this one. (That's not the nicest presentation but the top of my all-in-one scanner/printer, etc. is curved so I needed something quick to provide a fairly level surface.)

Sketch of Bowl #2

I'll see if I can get one of these bowls painted for next week along with some fruit. But, I also want to play with that teapot again!
