In memory of those who lost their lives....

Introduction to Perspective, Lines, Shapes, Forms. Tips on beginning.

I started by working on perspective and then did a sketch to paint. The perspectives are based on those shown in the lesson. Here's the first vanishing point sketch - with ruler and T-square used:

Vanishing Point #1

Here's the second, where I also used the ruler:

Vanishing Point #2

Here's the last, where I used the ruler on the first three and sketched by hand the one on the right. I guess I didn't need to mention that as it's clear I need more work without the ruler:

Multiple Vanishing Points

I then sketched a vase and some flowers to paint.

Sketch of Vase & Flowers

The painting took on a life of its own after I got the vase and the basic flowers started. I had a hard time deciding on colors, especially since I wasn't painting any particular kind of flower. I'd like to learn how to paint realistic flowers, though.

I'm glad to be back, Hillary. Perhaps this time I'll be able to spend more time working on the lessons. I'm going to try as I want to be ready to move on to that next class!
