Remembering New Orleans
In honor of the victims of Hurricane Katrina we were to do a painting representing some feeling of the areas hit - a memorium. I have visited New Orleans on three occasions. This painting depicts some of my memories of the city - splashes of color, jazz, Bourbon Street, balconied buildings set close together. What is now missing are all the people, only memories remain. ![]() |

Next I worked on my Red Sky painting again based on the feedback from last week. The attempt here is to bring more life and dimension to the painting. ![]() |

It was difficult to come up with something to paint for the narrative painting of New Orleans. While the actual street lamp on Bourbon Street is actually quite small as I recall, the memory of it is quite large in my mind. It is so difficult to see all the destruction and quite heartwarming to see all that so many have done to help all of those in need. |
