In memory of those who lost their lives....
Beyond the Basics

Colors And Their Importance

Our first exercise was in creating folds. This one shows folds with the shading done in Painter IX using just the Pencil and Blender-Just Add Water.

Next we created folds using a tool included in our graphics application. I used the Distortion - Distorto tool in Painter IX. By using a dark blue color for the initial lines the differences in shading are differentiated. I don't know if this is a function of how I worked with the tool or if it's a function of the tool. Either way, I kind of like the effect.

The next exercise was on mixing colors. I created a chalk painting of the Pittsburgh skyline, roughly, with a couple of the 29 (?) bridges. I also used a few of the blender tools including Diffuse and Just Add Water.

After receiving comments on the above painting I went back and made adjustments. While I was at it I decided to re-do both of the bridges to lower their size as well as clean them up. I've kept the original above for comparitive purposes.

I still need to work on my tonal painting - and that looks like fun! Thank you Hillary and Karen for another terrific lesson! Between this class, Painter and work I am getting a real workout! But I'm also loving every minute of it. :o)
